“Christmas is a big party for us. On Christmas night the first family was born in Nomadelfia, and it was that of Irene. It was after midnight Mass, the parish priest came to our houses there. And right down, in that little room that is to the left of the staircase of the building, there it was all festively decorated and it was the parish priest who entrusted Irene's children. Twelve were and Don Vincenzo made the same reasoning, said: "This is a motherhood that is not from instinct but is from Faith".

And the Bishop, on the day of the Immaculate Conception, where Irene went to ask if she allowed her to be, to exercise this motherhood. He said to her: "The Bishop is with your vocation". On the day of the Immaculate Conception, she obtained this motherhood from the Bishop for all of you, for all of you women, those who came later. And on Christmas Eve he received his children.

This happened in 1941 ".

With these words, Don Zeno remembered the birth of the first family, born thanks to the courage and response of Irene, an 18-year-old girl, who ran away from home to "mother" to the children that Don Zeno had collected in the rectory, promising him a real family. 76 years have passed since that night of Holy Christmas in which the first "Mother of Vocation" family was born, a choice that has not died out over time, but is destined to open up more and more.
It is always better to understand how indispensable the family is for the growth and development of the child, adolescent and adult life. The feast of Christmas speaks to us precisely of the welcome: open the doors of our houses, make room in our lives for the little ones, for the most defenseless and suffering, like Jesus on Christmas night.
